Overview

The large cabin of the BAe 146 provides ample space for fitting out with equipment for R&D or experimental operations, such as atmospheric research, avionics or radar systems testing.

Optional auxiliary fuel tanks allow aircraft range and endurance to be extended as needed.

The BAe 146's airfield performance and steep glide-slope capability also mean that it can operate into and out of airfields that are inaccessible to other similar sized aircraft.

The BAe 146 has potential to be used for a variety of Experimental / Research & Development roles:

• Airfield / Navigation systems calibration.
• Engine / Hush kit test-bed.
• Avionics flying laboratory
• Airborne surveillance test-bed.
• Meteorological research
• Radar test-bed.
